The NSYNC star turned solo act is hard at work on his second cd. We hung out in the studio for an exclusive preview.
After recording for the past year in London, New York, Miami, and LA, JC Chasez is putting the finishing touches on his next as yet untitled CD, due out this fall. "As a writer, its fun to go to different places and draw on new energy," Chasez says. "It's about experiencing new things."
In contrast to his last cd Schizophrenic, which Billboard described as "wonderfully all over the musical map" (though it peaked at 17 and sold a disappointing 51,000 copies its first week), Chasez says this album is more focused. "I met new writers this time and teamed up with different friends." Chasez's big name collaborators include Dallas Austin, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, who chimes in on "God Bless America" and the satire "Until Yesterday." "Justin and I went right back to finishing each other's sentences." Chasez says. "A lot of our personal jokes show up on the album."
Other tracks include "souped up 80s ballad" "I'm Not Sleeping Alone," and "Satellite," co written by Jimmy Harry. "This has been my favorite record making experience," Chasez says. Just don't ask whether NSYNC is getting back together; "Everyone and their mother is always asking that."
