VIP for JT

Thanks to cubb6 @ the jjb for this

It’s been a minute since we last saw Justin Timberlake Cryin’ Himself A River. So when he announced he was doing a one-off special ‘club show’ at London’s Hammersmith Palais, the gig sold out in minus ten seconds. Or something. Luckily, our blag game is TIGHT, so RWD managed to grab VIP passes meaning we not only got to get lick off for FREE but we saw piles of celebs while we were at it. Well, if you count Lemar, Will Young, Dermott O Leary and the one out of Bros as celebs.

Of course, we were really there to see and hear JT. Beginning with some rocked-out versions of Cry Me A River, Senorita and Like I Love You (complete with Justin dropping the guitar intro himself), it was more about the new music as the southern singer previewed five new tracks from forthcoming album, FutureSex/ LoveSounds that I wrote down but, er, left at home. Soz about that. There were two particularly ace ones called Love Stoned (maybe) and (I think) Until The End Of Time, which was hot to def! What’s clear is that JT is on his grown-man, stripped back, I-ain’t-tryin’to-be-too-sexy-no-more, so besides the odd wiggle and thrust, it was more about his musicianship skills which are really pretty tight – both on guitar and keys.

The highlight of the night though had to be the appearance of one of modern music’s greatest producers, Timbaland who strolled out for SexyBack. While the Timbo-produced song has received some mixed reactions, RWD gives it our stamp of approval – trust us, you WILL be rocking out to this all summer. It’s straight-up club banger.

Sometime after 11.15, Tim and Tim strolled off into the night to get drunk, meet women and live the general rock star life (probably) while RWD was left to wait for the circle and district line for 18 minutes. Still, it was worth it cos we now know that this new album is going to be amazing. You better get prepared cos Justin-mania is about to come back.
