Justin Timberlake, the new face of Memphis music, and Beale Street, a symbol of the city's deep musical roots, will co-star when "Good Morning America" debuts Timberlake's new CD next week.
The ABC-TV morning show will broadcast live from a stage at King's Palace Cafe 6-9 a.m. next Friday with the focus on Timberlake and his new album Future Sex/Love Sounds.

Timberlake, the former boy-band phenomenon of 'N Sync, has had the No. 1 hit single two weeks in a row with "Sexy Back" from the new album.
Performa Entertainment Real Estate president John Elkington said he and his Beale Street staff have been working out details for eight weeks while production crews for the ABC-TV show (shown on Channel 24 in Memphis) have begun shooting.

"They shot him walking down Beale Street at midnight a couple of weeks ago," said Elkington. He said the show will revolve around Timberlake with Beale Street and Memphis music as the backdrop.

"It's a Memphis music story, and he is Memphis music right now. The production team will also try to get (Oscar-winning) Three 6 Mafia. It's a great opportunity for the city to show off its music, its roots, its history, its culture."

Elkington said he can't estimate the crowd that might show up for a live broadcast at 6 a.m., but the city is cooperating to close Beale and part of Third Street during the three-hour show.

The show, based in New York, is hosted by Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts. Elkington said it was uncertain Thursday whether the co-hosts will travel to Memphis for the show.
