Timberlake collection

Pop superstar Justin Timberlake, who grew up in Millington, is one of the few celebrities who give fashion direction to mainstream young men, so it makes sense that he's launched a collection. Timberlake debuted his spring line of men's and women's clothes recently at a celebrity-studded show at Social Hollywood, a hot Hollywood night club. Guests included girlfriend Cameron Diaz, singer Eve and Patrick Dempsey (dubbed Dr. McDreamy from TV's "Grey's Anatomy").

Timberlake's partner in the collection is childhood friend Trace Ayala. The line is named William Rast after their grandfathers.

Fashion included skinny jeans for guys and girls. Men wore country-style checked shirts with ruffles or leather trim and jackets with attached leather vests -- a cheeky idea that cut down on bulk and allowed jackets to maintain a slim, young cut. Women's styles included little shrug cardigans, shrunken sweater dresses and poet-sleeve blouses.

The show ended in a dance-off with gyrating models and head-spinning break dancers.

James Davis at Laurelwood is offering next day alterations for tailored clothing bought at the store. The "Tailored in 24" service means you can buy a suit at 3 p.m., have it altered and pick it up the next day at the same time. Free alterations for men and women include jacket sleeves, sides of a jacket, pants waists and pants length. There is a charge for altering dress, skirt and coat lengths.

Added staff, longer work hours and more efficient techniques make it possible, said owner Van Weinberg. He believes the quality of the work is even better than before. -COMMERCIAL APPEAL, Memphis, TN
